Food, according to Google is defined as any nutritious substance that people or animals eat or drink, or that plants absorb, in order to maintain life and growth. It is clear that living things need food to survive, but what kind of food? People would usually answer 'good food', but what they mean by 'good food'?

Different people have different opinions on what is 'good food', which is up to one's opinion. Some says good food is delicious food, food which burst with wonderful flavours when you take the first bite, satisfying the belly. Beautifully prepared dishes would be an extra bonus to delicious dishes, because attractive things attract people and anyone would want to take a bite of those beautifully decorated grilled cod fish.

Health conscious people would say that healthy food is good food, even though some might not be as tasty as others but it is good for health. Healthy food here means food with less salt and less sugar, non-processed food, organic food, and of course lots of vegetables and fruits. They believe in the proverb 'You are what you eat', the appropriate intake of food from different food groups is important to ensure one gets the nutrients needed.

Lastly, those who define 'good food' as food produced which have minimal impact on the environment and living things. Food produced which is fair trade, where food producers from developing countries can have better trading and working conditions while promoting sustainability. Food produced which will not harm the environment, where usage of pesticides at a permissible amount to prevent pesticide poisoning in humans and lands become not fertile enough for future plantations. Food produced with animal welfare in mind, where animal's habitat is not destroyed for plantation and fishes are not over-fished for their high market demand.

In my opinion, good food is food produced delicious, healthy and environmental friendly. Food is one of life's pleasures that we enjoy, and at the same time we need food to live and stay healthy, but unconsciously the food we produced and wasted impact our environment negatively, therefore, it is important to choose the right food because the choice we make does make a difference.
