Durian also known as the king of fruit is an overwhelmingly popular fruit in Malaysia. There are over 100,000 hectares of durian plantations in Malaysia. One of Malaysia’s best places for durian is in Balik Pulau. The hilly slopes and temperate climate of Balik Pulau produces some of the best durians and durian hybrids in the country. Some of the award winning durians in Balik Pulau are Ang Hae, Ang Bak, D16, D700 and of course the famous "Musang King".
Every year there will be an event especially for durian lovers, which is called the Penang Durian Fair where the king of fruit is the main attraction. There will be a buffet of durians which are categorised according to their grades. You can savour fresh durians as well as other sumptuous delicacies made from durians such as Tempoyak, Lempuk, Dodol and many more.
